We recently trusted G E Hartley Funeral Directors in Wetherby to care for my father, and I honestly don't know how we would have got through it without them. From the moment we first spoke to them, we felt understood at a time when everything felt overwhelming.

Jane, our point of contact, was extraordinary. She went above and beyond for us at every single step — nothing was ever too much trouble, no question too small. Her attention to detail and organisation meant we never had to worry that something would be missed, and she was always so prompt getting back to us, which meant a great deal when everything else felt so uncertain. But more than the efficiency, it was her genuine empathy and understanding that stayed with us. She treated my father, and our whole family, with real dignity and care.

The whole team at G E Hartley handled everything with such professionalism and compassion, and gave my father the send-off he deserved. We are so grateful.

Emma and Katie were kind, supportive and respectful from our very first call. We were completely unaware of how to proceed. They took away any worries that we had and guided us with such care through every step leaving us to concentrate on looking after each other. We can’t thank them enough for everything they did to make Mum’s send off just right for her. The celebrant that was recommended to us, Tom Keating was a perfect choice to conduct the celebration of Mum’s life. We were overwhelmed with the high standards set by your lovely staff.

From our first meeting with Russell he was both professional yet amiable in conversation and discussions making the whole process of organising the funeral a stress free period. On the day of the funeral, despite us having a last minute home accident to deal with, he and the staff were once again impeccably professional in guiding the family through the day.

From the first phone call to the funeral and appointments following, Russell and Emma were so calming, compassionate and considerate. I am so glad they were with us throughout the process explaining what was happening and what needed to be done. Russell was so patient and helpful when it came to planning the service and helped us to ensure it was exactly how mum would have wanted it. Emma’s calming presence on the day was a great comfort. Both Russell and Emma helped us through the most difficult time in our lives with such grace and respect and I couldn’t be more grateful. Thank you.

I cannot thank Jane enough for the incredible kindness and grace she showed our family while planning my father’s farewell. After what had been a grueling nine weeks, pre & post death with Harrogate Hospital, Jane’s gentle spirit provided me with a level of comfort I didn't think was possible.

I was particularly nervous about seeing him in an open casket, but Jane stayed right by my side, offering comfort and support until I felt ready to be left alone. When I did see him, her attention to detail was so evident. For a man who was always impeccably dressed, she had ensured he looked exactly as he should. It was a huge relief to see him at peace after such a long ordeal.

I truly believe this industry benefits so much from a woman’s touch, and Jane’s presence was a testament to that. She brought a level of intuition and warmth to the process that we didn't even know we needed.

Jane, you have a true gift for what you do. I am so deeply grateful that you were the one to guide us through this.
